Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting advisor Luis Campos has said he wants Lionel Messi to extend his contract with the Ligue 1 giants, according to reports.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner joined the French giants in the summer of 2021 after an acrimonious departure from Barcelona.
Messi signed a two-year deal worth a staggering £35million-a-season when he joined the French side but Campos is now looking at how to keep the Argentina international in a PSG shirt beyond that.

According to Le Parisien, Campos is eager to keep hold of Messi as the club are said to be ‘delighted with his extraordinary professionalism’.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is also said to be particularly impressed with Messi – claiming it’s a ‘pleasure’ to work with him every day.
He is also in fine form and has shown no sign of slowing down with nine goals and 10 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions this season.
However, the report states that the financial aspect of Messi’s potential extension is problematic for PSG.

After recording €350million (£305m) in losses last season, the Ligue 1 giants are worried about forking out another €41m (£35m) on Messi’s salary.
Nevertheless, it is believed PSG will offer Messi a one-year extension in due course although, as it stands, no official deal has yet been tabled.
It is likely that the 35-year-old forward will also receive interest from other clubs across the globe.
However, Messi has said he will wait until after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to make a decision over his future.

Messi became a free agent in 2021 after his contract with Barca expired. However, he was set to re-sign with the club following positive initial talks between all parties.
Therefore, it came as a surprise to Messi when Barcelona dropped a bombshell statement confirming he would be leaving the club.
Barcelona cited economic and structural obstacles (Spanish LaLiga regulations) as the reason for Messi’s departure.
As a result, the Argentina international joined PSG in 2021 and he has since formed a terrifying front three with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
