Former England striker Darren Bent believes Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah should snub Real Madrid and Barcelona if they ever express an interest in signing him in the near future. The right forward, who is affectionately known as ‘The Egyptian King’ at Anfield, is enjoying a spectacular start to the season with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Salah has stormed his way to the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 10 goals and five assists in his first nine matches of the new season.
He has also hammered home a spectacular five goals in three Champions League appearances for the Reds, taking his already impressive goal tally to 15 goals and five assists in 12 appearances in all competitions.
It would not be controversial to suggest he is currently the best performing player in world football and many Liverpool fans are praying he will extend his contract at Anfield.
And Bent feels the former Chelsea winger would be making a huge mistake if he decided to depart Merseyside for a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“Do you know what he has on his side as well? There aren’t too many places he can go,” Bent said to talkSPORT.

“You look at Barcelona or Real Madrid; neither of them are in any sort of financial state.
“I know they bid something crazy for Kylian Mbappe, but that looks like who they are set on getting. They are in a rebuild.”
Barcelona’s poor financial position resulted in the Catalans having to part ways with Lionel Messi, as they would have surpassed the La Liga salary cap by more than 40 per-cent if the Argentinian extended his stay at the Nou Camp.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid reported a revenue loss of around £250m and were also one of the main drivers of the now-defunct European Super League in April.

But despite their huge losses, Carlo Ancelotti’s side launched a shock €180m (£171.6m) bid for Paris Saint Germain’s Mbappe on transfer deadline day, only to see their offer rejected.
And Bent feels Liverpool is still the place to be in the current footballing climate, telling host Andy Goldstein they are more likely to compete for the Champions League than Barcelona or Real.
“Not now they’re not [a bigger club], Liverpool are massive,” Bent said. “Where would you rather go right now?
“When you talk about the biggest clubs in the world right now, in terms of who could go on and win the Champions League, I think of Liverpool, Chelsea, City, PSG, Bayern.

“If Barca or Real came in for me right now and I’m at Liverpool, I would stay where I am.”
Salah scored a historic hat-trick, as Klopp’s side dismantled fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old helped himself to three goals after Naby Keita and Diogo Jota opened the scoring.
However, the Reds may have a fight on their hands to keep him, as his Liverpool contract is set to expire in June 2023.
But Salah has offered the club and their supporters plenty of hope, by saying he wants to finish his career with the six-time European Champions.
“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that – it’s not in my hands,”Salah told Sky Sports.
“At the moment I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad.”
