Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah’s sensational goals against Manchester City and Watford are ‘normal’ for him, according to team-mate Sadio Mane. The Senegalese was not shocked to see his strike partner score his two Goal of the Season contenders either side of the international break.

Salah took control of the ball in a crowded area of the Anfield pitch with the score against the Premier League champions tied at 1-1.

He twisted and turned beyond several defenders before slamming the ball beyond Ederson from a tight angle and with his weaker right foot.

Pundits and fans raved about the strike. However, Reds ace Mane has become familiar with Salah producing such moments of magic.

The Egyptian scored a similarly brilliant goal against Watford on Saturday in a 5-0 thrashing.

“Of course, I think it is you guys who are surprised – but not me because we all know his quality,” Mane said.

“We know how he can move the ball, he showed it against Manchester City, which was another great goal, so for him to score goals like this is normal.

“It was a very wonderful goal and I am very happy for him.”

Mane, Salah and fellow member of Liverpool’s famous front three Roberto Firmino all scored as Jurgen Klopp’s side smashed Watford 5-0 on Saturday.

Firmino bagged a hat-trick in the Premier League clash. The trio have now scored a combined 16 goals this term.

An out-of-form Manchester United are next and will be fearing Mane, Salah and Firmino.

Mane has explained why they are having such a good season so far.

He continued: “I think we started very well, played really well, created many chances and scored five goals. We deserved to win.

“I’ve always said it’s very easy to play up front with these two guys. They are two of the best players in the world and I think we cause defences many problems.

“I think by moving quick, dropping deep, making runs and that makes the difference.

“Hopefully we are going to keep going like this and score as many goals as we can for the team until the end of the season.”

Mane has admitted that last season was one of the worst of his career. He scored just 11 Premier League goals, down from 18 and from 22 in his previous two campaigns, respectively.

Liverpool struggled in the defence of their 2019-20 league title, with injuries ravaging through Klopp’s squad.

However, Mane has already netted five time in the top-flight this term in just eight appearances.

He insists he has overcome the problems that have prompted him to struggle in the last 12 months.

“It was hard for myself but it was hard for the team and sometimes that’s normal but that’s all behind us now.

“I said from the beginning now that it can be a different season for all of us and you can see that.

“So hopefully we are going to go for the titles, which is our dream, that’s what we are looking at and what we are working for.”
