Liverpool set to unveil Adrian soon as deal agreed ahead of next season
Liverpool are soon set to ‘unveil’ the news that Adrian has signed a new contract with the club. The goalkeeper’s current deal expires at the end of June but it is claimed he has already put pen to paper on an extension.
Adrian made just one appearance for Liverpool this season. He played the Community Shield last July when the Reds beat Manchester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.
The Spaniard also only made one outing last term after falling down the pecking order at Anfield. The former West Ham stopper was initially No 2 to Alisson when he signed on a free transfer in August 2019.
He made 18 appearances in his first campaign due to Alisson’s absence through injury. But the emergence of Caoimhin Kelleher has seen him drop to third choice under Jurgen Klopp.
Kelleher has often impressed when given the chance by Klopp, largely in domestic cup competitions. However, with his long-term future in doubt, Liverpool have moved to tie down Adrian.

Writing in his Caught Offside column, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the 36-year-old has signed a new contract. Liverpool are soon set to make the announcement that he will be staying.
Kelleher’s lack of football has seen him linked with a move elsewhere. Speaking in May, Klopp confirmed he wants to Irishman to stay and also hinted at a deal for Adrian.
Klopp said: “I can’t see… honestly, I can’t see Caoimh leaving. It must be an extraordinary offer that I start thinking, I have to say.
“Adrian, if we don’t say goodbye [already] what would that mean? That he probably stays, but if there is nothing in the papers then it is not decided yet finally.

“We will not do it [say goodbye] just in case, but I have a rather good feeling that we [will] keep working together in that position.”
Kelleher is a Republic of Ireland international. His international boss Stephen Kenny thinks differently to Klopp and hopes he moves on.
Kenny recently told reporters: “I would fully expect [Kelleher to leave]. It’s not right normally to speak about a player moving, but he’s at the stage where he’s behind probably one of the best goalkeepers in the world and it’s not going to get any easier.
“He can’t afford not to be playing. He knows that and he’s known that for a while. It’s not easy. There’s a process you go through with a club like that and I think and it wouldn’t be a surprise for him to move in the summer, and he knows that.”
