Liverpool 'ready a cut-price £35m move for Man City's Kalvin Phillips'
Liverpool ‘are prioritising a cut-price £35m move for Man City’s Kalvin Phillips’ as Jurgen Klopp prepares midfield overhaul this summer… with England star ‘open to Anfield move’
- Liverpool are apparently ready to launch a £35million move for Kalvin Phillips
- Jurgen Klopp is keen to overhaul his current midfield in the summer
- Phillips has been an outcast at Man City since moving to the club last year
Liverpool are reportedly preparing to launch an audacious £35million summer bid to bring Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips to Anfield.
Phillips has been an outcast in Pep Guardiola’s squad since moving to the Etihad from Leeds last summer, making just 16 appearances in all competitions and not a single Premier League start.
Liverpool are assessing the market of available midfielders after being declared out of the running for Jude Bellingham and will now attempt to sign Phillips, according to the Daily Star.
The proposed price Liverpool are apparently willing to offer would see City lose £10m on the fee they initially payed to relegation-threatened Leeds.
The 27-year-old has been a key part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad but has seen his minutes diminish in the national team set-up at last year’s World Cup and the recent European Championship qualifiers.

Jurgen Klopp wants to reinforce his midfield with a plethora of new talent in the summer and Liverpool have apparently made it clear that they are admirers of Phillips.
The central midfielder has also supposedly expressed a desire to leave City in the summer in favour of a move to the Reds.
Phillips is part of a City team aiming to lift the famous treble this season and become only the second English team since Manchester United to achieve the feat.
But he is unlikely to play a major figure in Guardiola’s plans unless a serious and sudden catalogue of injuries leaves the Spaniard with no other choice but to throw the Englishman into the mix.
Many expected Phillips to make his third start of the season in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Championship side Sheffield United given City’s midweek trip to Germany in the Champions League.

But he was again relegated to the bench and forced to wait until the 75th minute to make his introduction when he replaced Ilkay Gundogan.
Guardiola questioned Phillips’ ability before the Wembley encounter and explained the reason behind his lack of minutes at the Premier League champion’s this season.
‘Kalvin still needs a bit of rhythm in short spaces,’ Guardiola said.
‘We miss the best of Kalvin, it’s a reason why he doesn’t have a lot of minutes.
