Liverpool ready £34m offer after Jurgen Klopp tells bosses to ‘get deal done’
Liverpool are reportedly readying a £34million offer for Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs. Jurgen Klopp has already welcomed two new midfielders in the form of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer and is now looking for a new addition in defence.
The Reds have been heavily linked with Chelsea’s Levi Colwill in recent days but Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a huge fan of the England youngster while the club are keen to tie him down a new contract, meaning any deal looks unlikely at present.
Liverpool may well sign one more midfielder this summer with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia top of their shortlist. However, it’s expected there will still be some money in the budget left for Klopp to also bolster his defence.
The likes of Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez flattered to deceive last season and Klopp is now desperate to strengthen his backline. According to Tuttosport, Liverpool have already seen a £25m offer for 23-year-old centre-back Schuurs turned down and are ready to return with an improved £34m bid.

The Italian outlet claims that Klopp has wanted the defender, who had a trial for Liverpool when he was just 17, for over two years and has instructed his bosses to get the deal over the line at any cost. At just 23, and able to also play at right-back, Schuurs is an attractive option for Liverpool who have made a habit out of signing younger players on an upwards trajectory.
However, they could face a battle for his signature with Napoli believed to also be interested in his services. The Italian champions are on the lookout for a new centre-back after Kim min-Jae departed for Bayern Munich and have earmarked Schuurs as a possible target. The 23-year-old had been tipped for a huge future after breaking through at Ajax back in 2018 with many tipping him to become the natural successor to Matthijs de Ligt.

However, Schuurs struggled to live up to the billing and left the club last year for a fresh start in Italy. And he has made a huge impression since making the move, playing 36 times in his first season as Torino finished 10th in the Serie A table.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been linked with other defenders, including Goncalo Inacio, Colwill, Marc Guehi and Micky van de Ven, though the latter is expecting to receive an offer from Tottenham over the coming days.
