Liverpool are reportedly preparing to make a final contract offer to Mohamed Salah as they desperately try to keep him at Anfield. The blockbuster forward is out of contract next summer and is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, despite months of negotiations.
The Reds shelled out £34million to sign Salah from Roma in 2017- and the ace became an instant hit on Merseyside as he found the back of the net a staggering 44 times in his debut season as Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the Champions League final.
He penned a contract extension just one year after arriving at Anfield and has gone on to become one of the best players in the world during his time at the club. But the 29-year-old has been reluctant to sign on the dotted line for a third time amid an apparent standoff over wages.
According to Sunday World, Liverpool insiders have suggested the club are set to make a final offer to Salah and his agent Ramy Abbas Issa. But the Reds don’t want to move above the £300,000-a-week maximum salary offered to their top stars.
Liverpool chiefs have not given up hope of keeping Salah in the north west, despite the fact he is yet to commit his future to the club. And their contract offer could include substantial bonuses based on the team’s success on top of guaranteed payments.
Salah was instrumental as Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League a year later. And he has been in top form once again this campaign as he has bagged 28 goals in all competitions.
Those strikes have helped Liverpool progress to the latter stages of this season’s Champions League, where they defeated Benfica in the first leg of their quarter-final showdown on Tuesday night. And his 20 league goals have put Klopp’s team in contention to win their second Premier League title.

If Salah doesn’t pen a new deal before the start of next season, Liverpool chiefs could be willing to sell him to ensure they don’t lose him for free next summer. And former Reds player John Aldridge admits he’s not confident the Merseysiders can keep hold of their star man.
“I thought this would have been sorted a long time ago, but we are getting to the point now where it looks like he might not sign the new deal,” Aldridge said. “We know the last contract offer was rejected – I can’t see the club budging too much at this stage. I’m sure there will be another offer, but who knows whether it will be enough.
“If Salah wants £500,000-a-week, as the reports say, Liverpool won’t pay that and he will probably go – but I think he would be mad to walk away from this team.”
