Klopp outlines Liverpool's plans for summer transfer window
Liverpool are poised to strike while the iron’s hot ahead of the summer transfer window. As a deal for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister nears completion, he could be joined at Anfield soon afterwards by rising La Liga star Gabri Veiga as the Reds solidify their stance.
One midfielder won’t be enough for Jurgen Klopp this summer in the face of numerous big-name players fleeing Anfield. A bargain £45million swoop for Mac Allister would certainly be a positive way to kick things off, while several other targets are firmly in the crosshairs.
One of them is Veiga, the 21-year-old Celta Vigo midfielder who has also piqued the interest of Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle. But once again, Liverpool appear to be edging ahead behind the scenes.
According to the Northern Echo, the Reds’ interest in Veiga is now at an ‘advanced’ stage, and a deal could progress quickly due to the youngster’s release clause.

The tears were flowing on Sunday night as he scored a fairytale brace against league champions Barcelona to cement a 2-1 win. Veiga’s emotional reaction only fuelled speculation that he is likely to move onto pastures new during the summer window.
Former Celta and Brighton manager Oscar Garcia has tipped Veiga for success in the Premier League by weighing him up against several of the division’s most iconic stars. “I don’t like to compare players,” he told The Daily Mail. “But there are some similarities with players from other generations, such as Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, in terms of the type of midfielder that he is.
“I believe he is a player who performs better when he is free to display all his physical strengths, allied to his very good technique. He is more of a midfielder who can play box to box, rather than a player in the style of Sergio Busquets or Rodri, who are more positional. He uses more of the field to show all the level that he has.
“His main strengths are in possession of the ball, where he can eliminate many rivals with his movement, he can skip many lines of pressure from the opponent. Besides, he is a player who likes to arrive into the box.”
