Liverpool must target third Brighton sta with Caicedo and Mac Allister
Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister should not be the only names of interest to Liverpool this summer as far as Brighton are concerned. In addition to two central midfielders, the Reds are also in desperate need of some cover and competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back following his struggles this season.
In the past few years, Alexander-Arnold has had the position locked down but unfortunately, there are no longer any guarantees.
The fact he has had no real competition pushing him from the sidelines means an element of complacency has creeped into his game.
And with Trent no longer delivering quality on a consistent basis, it points towards the idea of strengthening at right-back this summer to keep the England international on his toes.
Tariq Lamptey would be a fine solution given that he has not been a guaranteed starter at Brighton under Roberto De Zerbi, therefore he is used to competing for the shirt.

The former Chelsea youngster is also only 22 meaning there is plenty of time for him to develop and grow particularly under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.
It’s also important to note that Lamptey still has a very high ceiling despite the fact he has not kicked on as much as he was expected to after breaking into the Chelsea first team.
He’s an all-action full-back capable of affecting the game at both ends of the pitch and for that reason, he is surely worth a punt.
The idea would be to give Alexander-Arnold a lift in terms of motivation, as he knows he needs to make improvements to his game.

It appears as though the 24-year-old has become too settled at Liverpool and no longer goes the extra yards that are required to ensure he remains at the peak of his powers.
There has been a noticeable drop-off in quality this season from Trent but thankfully he is not alone, meaning it can be excused.
Although Joe Gomez and James Milner can fill in at right-back, they are not long-term solutions moving forward.
Liverpool need a capable deputy that is ready to up the ante and put Alexander-Arnold under serious pressure.
It has worked at Manchester United where Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot have brought the best from one another and Arsenal this season where Kieran Tierney has pushed Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Squad depth is imperative to every successful team but Liverpool just haven’t had that to hand this season and it’s something that has proved hugely damaging.
Whether Lamptey would be available is another question altogether but if Liverpool play their cards right, it is certainly worth asking the question.
They will have to navigate any negotiations they hold with Brighton smoothly this summer as Albion hold all the cards and if there are any proposals that are deemed insulting, the Seagulls have the authority to pull the plug on talks.
Brighton know an abundance of clubs will come knocking for Caicedo and Mac Allister this summer so the power really is in their hands – particularly over players like Lamptey that they generally do not need to sell.
