Jude Bellingham will cost Liverpool £101million if they are to sign him from Borussia Dortmund, according to reports. The 18-year-old’s mature and classy performances has seen him become one of the first names on the team sheet for the Bundesliga giants, ever since his £25m move from Birmingham City.

His move to Signal Iduna Park was expected to be a slow burner, where he would be moulded and developed into a first team player over time.

However, the starlet has defied all expectations, and his imposing and creative displays at the heart of Marco Rose’s dynamic side have garnered the attention of the footballing world.

Bellingham’s performances have also generated very impressive statistics, as he has contributed three goals and seven assists in 15 appearances in all competitions.

And with the youngster becoming one of the most precious jewels in Dortmund’s crown, the Bundesliga giants are set to demand his weight in gold, as reports from Bild claim they have put a price tag of £101m on his head.

Reports from the Daily Star back in September claimed Liverpool had made Bellingham one of their top targets. However, it was initially reported Bellingham was valued at around £80m.

That means Dortmund’s valuation of the England midfielder, who has eight senior international appearances despite his youthful age, has increased by £21m. Liverpool would have to not only shatter their own transfer record, but they would also have to surpass the £100m Manchester City paid for Bellingham’s England colleague Jack Grealish.

The £75m Jurgen Klopp’s side paid Southampton for Virgil Van Dijk is still the Reds’ recording signing, but Bellingham’s signature may require them to surpass that figure by more than £25m. Bellingham has started all nine of Dortmund’s Bundesliga matches as well as all three of their Champions League matches.

The young prodigy stole the show against Arminia Bielefield last week with a wonderful solo goal in Dortmund’s 3-1 victory. He slalomed his way through their defence like Lionel Messi, before showing impeccable composure to chip the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper.

Alongside the imperious Erling Haaland, Bellingham has been one of the main drivers to Dortmund’s title challenge.

They currently trail current league leaders Bayern Munich by one point; however, Rose’s side are operating with real consistency.

Dortmund will be hoping Bellingham and co can remain fit and firing as they push for their first Bundesliga title in ten years.

Fortunately, the club has a real advantage over Liverpool when it comes to Bellingham, as he does not have a release clause in his contract.

Bellingham’s deal at the Signal Iduna Park does not expire until 2025, meaning Dortmund can command whatever transfer fee they please.

This means they could potentially have Liverpool in the exact same position they had Manchester United in when the Red Devils were chasing Jadon Sancho.

Dortmund sold the England starlet to United for £73m this summer, but the deal was completed after years of negotiations and back and forth.

They also did not have a release clause in Sancho’s contract, which meant they were able to hold out for the exact fee they wanted.

The German side could be in an even better position, as Bellingham is even younger than Sancho.

£101m is an awful lot of money, however, Liverpool will know his youthful age means his price will constantly rise, unless there was a spectacular drop in form.

Liverpool very rarely break the bank to sign a player, but with Bellingham continuing to defy his age with his outstanding performances, they might just be tempted to test Dortmund’s willingness to hold onto him.
