Liverpool hero Suarez promises good things from Pellistri at Man Utd
Luis Suarez has put his international duty above his club allegiances to give Facundo Pellistri some advice following his move from Penarol to Manchester United last year.
The pair came face-to-face on Sunday evening as Atletico Madrid saw off the threat of La Liga strugglers Alaves, where Pellistri is spending time on loan from the Premier League.
The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes as his veteran compatriot scored the only goal of the game to ensure their lead at the top wasn’t cut from four points over Barcelona.
At full-time the pair shared a kind moment of conversation, with Suarez later wishing the winger well using his Instagram account which has just under 40million followers.
His used the words: "A pleasure @facu_pellistri, keep up like this, and good things will come."
Pellistri replied by saying: “Many thanks animal! Congratulations for the 500 goals.”
Suarez also reached the impressive mark of 500 career goals with the aforementioned strike, following spells with Nacional, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona and now Atletico.
Although Pellistri has a very long way to go if he is to match the successful career of his friend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has high hopes for his time at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer said after the transfer was complete: “Our scouts have followed Facundo for a long time and we believe that he will be a real talent for the long term.
“Whilst we understand it will take time for him to adapt to the English game, he is capable of having an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent.
“Facundo has the perfect platform at Manchester United to develop and he has all of the technical qualities and the right mentality required to become a top player here.
“We are all looking forward to working with him to fulfil his potential over the coming years.”
