Liverpool fans spot two ‘boring’ Milner moments in Chelsea win – and love them

Liverpool midfielder James Milner would have toasted an ice-cold Ribena in celebration of the Reds' League Cup triumph over Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp’s side won the competition for the first time in ten years, after overcoming the reigning Champions League holders in a penalty shoot-out.

But while Liverpool shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher was the hero of the evening for the Reds, supporters reserved a special mention for Milner.

The former Manchester City and Newcastle United ace, who has a dedicated parody Twitter account called ‘Boring James Milner’ dedicated to him, showed excellent leadership throughout the contest.

And Liverpool fans particularly loved the way in which he pulled Harvey Elliott away from a mass pushing and shoving contest between the two sides.

Elliott had pushed Kai Havertz in the chest and was clearly agitated, but Milner pulled him away before squaring up to Antonio Rudiger when the Chelsea defender got involved.

“Give him a new deal. Give him a spot on the coaching team. Absolute legend,” said one fan.

“The guy has earned some serious respect from the young players. When the older squad age soon out we'll need that influence even more on the new/younger ones,” added another Red.

“Absolutely this! didn't think I could love the guy more,” said another Liverpool fan.

“Even if you pay him just to sit on the side-lines and cheer the guys on, money well spent.”

But while Milner’s leadership and experience endeared himself even more to Liverpool supporters, his reaction to Kepa’s vital miss had many Liverpool fans creasing in laughter.

While his teammates started surging forward in victory, Milner was stood ice cool with his fists clenched tightly, to the amusement of Liverpool fans.

“It’s like he's with the kids down at the park,” said one fan who loved his casual reaction.

“If Kepa scored he'd be up next again… probably got stuck in that headspace for a few seconds haha,” one eagle eyed fan noticed.

“I think at this moment he just realised Wembley Stadium don’t sell Ribena,” said one fan who remembered Milner’s iconic Ribena quote from the Reds’ victorious Champions League final.
