Liverpool fans spot trend in Gini Wijandlum’s twitter ‘likes’ amid PSG woes
Liverpool fans reckon Georginio Wijnaldum is missing life at his old club after trawling through his Twitter likes.
The Netherlands international called time on his five-year stint at Anfield last summer when his contract expired.
Despite personal pleas from Jurgen Klopp to renew, Wijnaldum had decided that it was time for a new challenge.
During his time on Merseyside, the midfielder became a key part under the German coach as they won the Premier League and the Champions League together.
But Paris Saint-Germain made a last-ditch attempt to snap him up ahead of likely suitors Barcelona in a shock scenario and the former Newcastle star signed for the French giants on a free transfer.
However, it appears Wijnaldum is missing life at Liverpool after Reds fans had a glance through his Twitter likes.
On Sunday, Klopp's men lifted the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties in a pulsating final at Wembley.
And the Liverpool Twitter page went into overdrive, posting several tweets of the squad celebrating with the trophy.
One eagle-eyed fan spotted Wijnaldum's social media activity soon after, where he had liked nearly every single one, including those from his former teammates at Anfield.
A tweet capturing a screen record going through all the tweets liked read: “You reckon Gini is missing us ..”
A fan replied: “He definitely misses being around the lads.”
While another wrote: “Hope the extra £100k a week is worth becoming a spectator and missing all this.”
And a third tweeted: “The Grass isn't Always Greener.”
There have been rumours that Wijnaldum is not happy at PSG after a tough start to life under Mauricio Pochettino.
But the 31-year-old was keen to shut down talk of a potential departure in the January transfer window.
Speaking to the official PSG magazine, he said: “The fact is, when I did this interview, I was just a little disappointed with the way things were going in sporting terms at the start of the season, on a personal level.
