Liverpool fans spot Firmino’s reaction to Darwin Nunez’s awful miss against Ajax

Several eagle-eyed Liverpool fans spotted Roberto Firmino's exasperated reaction to Darwin Nunez's awful miss against Ajax.

Nunez somehow managed to miss the target when it looked easier to score just before half-time. With the Reds 1-0 up thanks to Mohamed Salah's opener, a second goal just before the break would have more or less killed the game off.

And they looked almost certain to get it when Firmino raced into the box on the right-hand side and pulled the ball back for what looked like a tap in for Nunez. But the Uruguayan forward saw his shot cannon back off the post, to the disbelief of Liverpool fans watching at home – and Firmino.

TV pictures showed the Reds forward looking dumbstruck at how his team-mate had managed to miss the open goal. More than a few Reds supporters on social media noticed Firmino's show of incredulity.

One person wrote: "Firmino's reaction to that miss." Someone else said: "Look at Firmino’s reaction man. He literally gave it to him." A third person added: "Firmino’s reaction to Nunez’s miss is priceless."

Another commented: "But the reaction of Firmino face." While a fourth user chimed in with: "Hahhahaha f***ing hell."

Thankfully, Nunez made amends for his shocking miss just after half-time. The 23-year-old former Benfica man stooped low to head home Andy Robertson's corner to make it 2-0 to the Reds.

Harvey Elliott then made it 3-0 a couple of minutes later to guarantee all three points for Jurgen Klopp's side. The result booked Liverpool's spot in the last-16 of the Champions League as they moved onto 12 points in the group.

For the Reds to finish top of Group A, they would need to secure a four-goal win against Napoli at Anfield next week to cancel out the 4-1 loss they suffered in Italy at the start of September.
