Liverpool striker Takumi Minamino was slammed on social media for missing a gaping goal to break the deadlock in their Carabao Cup semi-final stalemate with 10-man Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were frustrated in their first-leg at Anfield as a resilient Gunners side held them to a 0-0 draw despite Granit Xhaka’s early red card, but the home side had a golden chance to score through Minamino late on.
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale fluffed a punch which meant Minamino had a gaping goal to aim at with the Gunners goalkeeper stranded. But the Japanese forward blazed over into the Kop in what was Liverpool’s best chance of the game.

And Minamino faced the wrath of several Liverpool fans who slammed him for a lack of composure in front of goal which could be a key moment in this semi-final tie.
One fan posted: ‘Sigh…. Minamino… How on earth do you miss from 5 meters out & an empty goal in front of you????? Easier to score than to miss.’
Another claimed that ‘this Minamino bloke is so bad’ while another posted ‘Liverpool is useless without (Sadio) Mane and (Mohamed) Salah (who are both at the Africa Cup of Nations).’
An Arsenal fan tweeted: ‘Poor from Ramsdale, but thankfully Salah & Mane are on international duty so the sitter fell to Minamino’

Meanwhile, one supporter added: ‘How tf Minamino. Blasts it into row Z with goal at his mercy. Terrible.’
Another fan tweeted: ‘That was easier to score than miss tbh from minamino’
And one disgruntled Liverpool supporter added: ‘Minamino, the worst signing of the Klopp era. Wasn’t good enough for Soton.’
The result means Liverpool have failed to stamp their authority on the tie after playing most of the first-leg with a man advantage.
