Liverpool fans return unanimous verdict on Phillips after £35million links

Liverpool have all returned with the same verdict after being linked with Manchester City flop Kalvin Phillips: No.

The Yorkshire Pirlo, as he was nicknamed at Leeds United, has barely had a chance to ping a pass in a torrid campaign. Phillips has found his minutes limited under Pep Guardiola, and Daily Star Sport revealed he's verging on a £35million switch to Liverpool in the summer.

Phillips is open to joining the Reds, but Liverpool fans aren't keen on the midfielder making the switch. One Liverpool fan even fumed: "I swear on my life I have never seen him on the pitch!"

"If we wanted to buy someone that won't improve our midfield, this would be a good option," a second added.

"Man can’t even string together three games in a row without getting hurt," a third tweeted. While a fourth added: "Couldn’t afford the Ferrari so they went for the Toyota Corolla…"

"That’s like going out to buy a Rolls Royce and coming back with a Ford Galaxy, p*** off," a fifth fumed. And another added: "All our targets bar Mac Allister and Rice are 2015 Rodgers targets. Every single one, these are the second-hand guys!"

Liverpool had been linked to Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham, but pulled out of the race recently with the youngster valued north of the £100million mark.

The Reds have since been linked to a slew of midfielders: including Chelsea duo Connor Gallagher and Mason Mount. Phillips has also been linked to West Ham and a sensational return to Leeds, as he looks to end his Etihad nightmare.
