Liverpool fans delight in Lucas’s brilliant reply to Reds Instagram post
Liverpool supporters have delighted in Lucas Leiva’s response to the club’s commemoration of the anniversary of the Brazilian arriving at Anfield.
Leiva joined the Reds in a £6million transfer move from Gremio, with whom he won promotion from the Brazilian second division.
He had a successful 10-year spell on Merseyside, picking up the club’s player of the year award in 2011, before winning the League Cup and being a runner-up in the Europa League.
His tough-tackling playing style and high work rate also made him a favourite of Liverpool fans, with Brazilian receiving a special recognition award at the end of his time with the Premier League side.
In celebration of the 14th anniversary of Liverpool announcing his signing, the Reds posted a photo of Lucas on Instagram with the caption “On this day in 2007, Lucas Leiva becomes a red”.
Reds fans were not the only ones to love the post, with Lucas also showing his pleasure with his time on Merseyside.
“Once a red, always a red. Thanks for everything Liverpool. #ynwa #scouser #unluckyyyyy,” the former midfielder wrote in reply to the post.
The “#unluckyyyyy” part of his reply refers to the meme that developed after a video surfaced of Lucas teasing Jordan Henderson during a round of games that the club filmed.
It became widely shared and also used by Lucas as his catchphrase for the rest of his spell at Liverpool.
Lucas’ reply to Liverpool’s Instagram post and his clear love for the club even four years after departing has also delighted fans.
