Liverpool fans brand Jurgen Klopp ‘pathetic’ for team selection vs Man Utd

The absence of Stefan Bajcetic from Liverpool's starting XI to take on Manchester United on Sunday afternoon (March 5) has led to questions of Jurgen Klopp.

The Premier League and Champions League winning manager decided that 18-year-old Spain youth international should take a rest from the start with Jordon Henderson, Fabinho, Harvey Elliott favoured.

One Liverpool fan asked: "Thoughts on Jurgen Klopp not starting Stefan Bajcetic?" With another supporter saying in response: "Pathetic."

A second said: "Klopp benching our undisputed most in form midfielder for one of our worst performers this season."

A third wrote: "Why did Klopp drop Stefan Bajcetic??" A fourth posted: "Stefan Bajcetic on the bench. His energy and legs is the reason LFC midfield has functioned of late."

A fifth agreed: "Bajcetic not starting is inexplicable, he's been light years ahead of the three starting." As a sixth concluded: "Why isn’t Bajcetic starting today? I swear if Man U tears up the midfield in the first 15 minutes I’m going to riot."

With Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in a front three, the defence included Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

The visit of the in-form United brings Marcus Rashford's goal-scoring talent, with 25 goals across his 39 games in all competitions.

Speaking about the respective midfields before the game, Graeme Souness said on Sky Sports: "Right now you have to say United are better in that area."

When asked about his selection on Sky Sports, Klopp said: "Mix of what we need to experience. Harvey played a really good game against Wolves."

Adding when asked about the message to his players: "Play good is helpful. Be aggressive, but not overly. Be compact, be wild in moments, be brave – these kinds of things.

"It is a derby but sometimes we know the emotions can get the best out of us or the other way round. It is all about how good we defend and how good we attack."
