Liverpool fan Sean Dyche was snapped with supporters at Champions League final

Sean Dyche kicks off his Everton career today just a matter of months on from watching Liverpool at the Champions League final.

The new Toffees boss is a Reds fan, so much so that he went to Paris to watch them in last year's European showdown with Real Madrid. He was snapped with other supporters before the match, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Speaking to LadBible in September, Dyche said: “I was a seventies kid so I supported Liverpool. My local Kettering, Kettering Town, me and my dad used to go down and watch them, they were pretty big in the non-league scene, but Liverpool from a distance."

In his first Premier League match since being sacked by Burnley last April, Dyche will step into the Goodison Park dugout as Everton host Arsenal in the early kick-off this afternoon (February 4).

Fan protests have been planned against the club's ownership, but he's called on them to back him and his squad in their battle against relegation.

Does it matter that Dyche is a Liverpool fan? Let us know in the comments section.

“It's easy to take the wheel of the ship in calm water, not so much when it's choppy water, we want the fans to play a part in that," he said in his pre-match press conference.

“It is choppy water, no denying that, the club isn't where it wants to be. We want the fans to reconnect with us, it's easy to say, I've got to earn my spurs, I'm a marmite manager anyway – not everyone wants you.

“We want them to support from the off, wear their hearts on their sleeves, even the ones who have angles questions, if they can park it for a little while and hopefully reconnect with us.”
