Liverpool supporters groups will remove their flags and banners from The Kop in response to the club’s decision to join a European Super League.
The Reds are one of six Premier League clubs to have signed up to the new competition, joining Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
The breakaway plot has been condemend by fans as a power and money-grabbing exercise and some Liverpool groups have decided to take a stand.

Spion Kop 1906 tweeted their intent to remove all of their displays in the stand at Anfield
Spion Kop 1906, who organise flags and banner displays on The Kop, announced that they will remove all of their displays in the famous stand at Anfield.
Writing on Twitter, they said: ‘We, along with other groups involved in flags, will be removing our flags from The Kop.
‘We feel we can no longer give our support to a club which puts financial greed above integrity of the game.’
Fans say they feel they can no longer give their support because of the club’s ‘financial greed’
A Spion Kop 1906 spokesman told The Athletic: ‘We’ve been in contact with the club today to make it clear we want all the banners and the flags all taken down as soon as possible. We’re taking our support is off the table from now.
‘It’s disgraceful and absolutely disgusting what the owners have done. We don’t know how it’s got this far without fans being consulted. They have sold their soul.
‘No Liverpool fan could get on board with this Super League. It would be good to hear the manager and the players come out and back the fans on this.’
Earlier on Monday, the group released a longer statement responding to the news of a Super League.
‘We would like to place on record our opposition to the planned reforms of the European football pyramid.
‘The new format is a blatant plan for the beneficial clubs to seize even more power and revenue from an already lucrative business model.
The group have told the club they want the flags and banners removed as soon as possible
‘Owners, clubs, management. Do you really care about the clubs best interests, or just the bank accounts? I think we arlready know the answer but now is time to think of years of tradition, and do the right thing.’
Fellow supporters group, Spirit of Shankly, have also criticised the club’s owners for their ‘greedy pursuit of money’.
They tweeted: ‘#Embarrasing as fan representatives we are appalled & completely oppose this decision.
‘FSG have ignored fans in their relentless & greedy pursuit of money. Football is ours not theirs. Our football club is ours not theirs.’
