Liverpool expected XI vs Tottenham as Jurgen Klopp makes two changes
Liverpool are aiming to extend their winning run to four matches and close the gap on the Premier League top four in the process. Tottenham visit Anfield on Sunday afternoon knowing only victory would keep their faint hopes alive. Express Sport looks at the XI Jurgen Klopp is expected to select.
Goalkeeper – Alisson
Alisson has been one of the goalkeepers of the season and has played a big part in Liverpool being anywhere near the Champions League qualification places. He has just one clean sheet in his last eight matches in all competitions, though, so will be hoping to keep Spurs at bay today.
Defence – Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson
Ibrahima Konate could be one of two changes Klopp makes. The Frenchman needed a rest in midweek for the trip to West Ham.
Joel Matip started in his place and scored but Konate had started the six games prior to that and should come back into the team for this one alongside Virgil van Dijk. Trent Alexander-Arnold will start the game at right-back but with the licence to drift into midfield.
He has five assists in his last four league matches after a run of just two in his previous 27 this season, so the change has clearly had a positive impact. Andrew Robertson will take up his usual spot on the left.

Midfield – Henderson, Fabinho, Jones
If you told a Liverpool fan two months ago that a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Curtis Jones would start five league matches in a row, they probably would have laughed at you. But that is exactly what they have done and will likely make it six today.
Jones has surprised many by making a big impact since his return from injury. Fabinho and Henderson have had their fair share of criticism this season but are finishing the season strong.
Liverpool are unbeaten in the five matches the trio have started of late. Klopp won’t want to change a winning formula now.

Attack – Salah, Gakpo, Darwin
The second change that could be made is Diogo Jota dropping out of the XI. The Portugal star has been in fine goalscoring form, with four in his last three outings.
However, he limped off with a back problem before the hour mark against West Ham. Klopp says he should be fine but Darwin Nunez is ready to step in and his pace could be used to exploit the gaps behind Tottenham’s wing-backs.
Mohamed Salah has scored in each of his last six appearances at Anfield, netting seven times. He’ll occupy the right with Cody Gakpo up top.
Expected Liverpool XI vs Tottenham in full: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Darwin.
