Liverpool duo slammed for ‘gun’ celebration days after Olivia Pratt-Korbel death
Liverpool duo Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho have been criticised for their ‘gun’ celebration 10 days after Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot dead in Merseyside.
Carvalho sparked jubilant celebrations at Anfield when he struck home a 98th minute winner to secure a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United. However, the 20-year-old, and fellow young midfielder Elliott, have been slammed for their ‘gun’ celebration at the end of the contest
Olivia, who was only nine years old, became the third person to lose their life to gun violence in Merseyside within a week, when she was fatally shot in her own home on the 21st August. Her death followed the death of Sam Rimmer, who was killed in a drive-by shooting on the 16th August, and Ashley Dale, who was murdered in her back garden on the 21st August.

After Liverpool’s 9-0 victory against Bournemouth, Reds, captain Jordan Henderson removed his shirt to reveal an undershirt emblazoned with the message ‘RIP Olivia YNWA’ (You Never Walk Alone). The England international was praised for his tribute at the end of the contest.
However, many football fans have been infuriated by the celebration, which Carvalho has used since he was still playing for Fulham. “Gun celebration when a nine year old kid was shot dead in her home last week? Stay classy,” one fan wrote on social media.
Another fan agreed, asking “Is this a gun celebration? If so it’s appalling.” “A gun celebration after what's happened in Liverpool recently, really,” another supporter posted.

Another said: “Why are Liverpool players doing a trigger/gun celebration after scoring tonight? Tasteless especially after recent events in the City of Liverpool.”
Liverpool did not respond when contacted by the Daily Star.
According to Sky News, over 170 arrests have been made across Merseyside as Police look to crackdown on organised crime. Two men who were arrested on suspicion of murdering Olivia have been released on bail.
Olivia was shot dead after a gunman chased a man into her home – the man, nor the two men who were pursuing him, had no links to Olivia or her family. Her mother was also injured when she was trying to shut the door.
