Liverpool could sign five PL players after Mac Allister in new plan

Klopp happy to see Liverpool maintain form with Fulham win

Liverpool reportedly want to target players who have Premier League experience in the summer. The Reds have apparently made Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister their top target after ditching a move for Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham – and could sign several other players from top-flight rivals when the transfer window reopens. Express Sport looks at five more Premier League players who Liverpool could sign…

Mason Mount

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for England star Mount. Come the summer, the 24-year-old will have just 12 months remaining on his Chelsea contract and talks over a new deal have stalled.

Chelsea could therefore look to cash in on their academy product. Liverpool’s need for fresh impetus and energy in their midfield makes Mount the ideal signing.

Romeo Lavia

Southampton’s impending relegation could see the highly-rated Belgian Lavia snapped up on the cheap. The former Manchester City star has been a rare highlight in a dismal season for the Saints.

Lavia is an all-action midfielder who only joined Southampton from City last summer. A year in the Championship could be excellent for his development, but there will certainly be interest from top Premier League clubs during the transfer window.

Liverpool could sign the versatile 19-year-old to play as either a No 6 or as a No 8. Klopp likes players who take risks on the ball – and Lavia certainly does that.

Kalvin Phillips

Man City could allow Phillips to leave just 12 months after parting with £45m to sign the midfielder from Leeds. The 27-year-old has played just 102 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Rodri’s excellent form as the pivot in City’s midfield has kept Phillips out of the team. Fitness issues have also plagued the England international’s first season with the reigning top-flight champions.

Liverpool have been loosely linked with Phillips ahead of the summer transfer window. He would provide excellent competition for Fabinho.

Conor Gallagher

Liverpool could complete a double raid of Chelsea by signing Mount and Gallagher. Another product of the esteemed Cobham academy, Gallagher is the prototype Jurgen Klopp midfielder – energetic, an excellent presser and technically astute.

Chelsea could be open to offloading the 23-year-old in the summer to balance their huge spending. Newcastle have been linked with a £30m transfer and Liverpool could match that price.

Lloyd Kelly

Kelly is a long-term target of the Anfield outfit. The defender was first linked with Liverpool while at Bristol City before his switch to Bournemouth in 2019.

Klopp’s switch in formation to use a back three in possession – allowing Trent Alexander-Arnold freedom to roam into midfield – has seen Andy Robertson struggle in the left-back role which sees him transform into a left-sided centre-back in possession. Kelly, 24, would be an excellent replacement.
