Liverpool could make a ‘monstrous offer’ to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, according to reports. Liverpool could look to replace Georginio Wijnaldum following his departure from Anfield. Wijnladum has signed for Paris Saint-Germain following the expiry of his Reds contract.

Wijnaldum has been a key part of Liverpool’s success in recent seasons so replacing him will not be easy.

The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have struggled for form and fitness in recent seasons under Jurgen Klopp.

Curtis Jones was impressive in his first full season in the first team but it appears Klopp is also keen to explore the market.

And one option seems to be that of Milinkovic-Savic.

Italian outlet Il Messaggero notes Liverpool’s interest in the player.

Lazio are set to sign Serbia under-21 international Dimitrije Kamenovic.

Kamenovic’s agent is former Chelsea and Serbia striker Mateja Kezman.

Kezman is also the representative of Milinkovic-Savic and Il Messaggero claims Kezman could present Lazio with a big offer from Liverpool for the midfielder after completing the deal for Kamenovic.

Milinkovic-Savic has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old started his career in Serbia with Vojvodina before joining Genk in 2014.

He has been at Lazio since 2015 and has almost made 250 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side.

Milinkovic-Savic still has three years remaining on his Lazio contract so it may have to take a substantial offer to prise him away.

Meanwhile, Wijnaldum leaves Liverpool after winning the Champions League and Premier League during his five years at the club.

However, the 30-year-old wishes he could have left the Reds after a more successful campaign.

“The only regret I probably will have is that I couldn’t leave with a title or a prize, that would be really, really good for me, for the fans and for everyone,” Wijnaldum said in May.

“But everyone knows the circumstances we had during the season. It was really difficult – really difficult.

“But if you look how we changed it around, a few weeks ago I don’t think a lot of people would have thought that we could finish third and qualify for the Champions League.

“That’s a good one. I’m happy we could bring Liverpool to the Champions League and that I basically put them in a good spot when I leave.”
