Liverpool chiefs disagree with Konate after star’s public FSG transfer demand
Liverpool's Anfield stadium in focus
Liverpool reportedly do not feel that they need to sign another three players this summer, despite the pleas of Ibrahima Konate. The Reds have already acquired the services of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, and they intend on bringing in more recruits in midfield in particular.
The Reds paid the price for not refreshing their side last summer and despite a late rally, they will play Europa League football next year after dropping out of the top four. Jurgen Klopp made it no secret that a lack of recruitment was central to their poor form, with injuries and ageing stars proving to be a real issue.
Liverpool have allowed Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner to depart as free agents and will focus on bringing in fresh faces in the centre of the park. Konate did not shy away from informing the higher powers at Anfield that players are expecting a minor overhaul this summer, telling RMC Sport: “I think the coach and those in charge of recruitment know that we need new players.
“I believe we have four players leaving this season: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner and Firmino. We have to replace them. If we don’t replace them, what do we do? Are we understaffed and lacking in quality? We cannot play with young people at this level.”

However, it appears that the plea for signings has fallen on deaf ears as The Athletic report that the club’s business this summer will depend heavily on cost. They do not think it is strictly necessary to sign two more midfielders because Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain rarely played last term.
The fact that Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita only made a combined seven league starts in total last season has indicated to the Reds that replacements for both may not be entirely necessary and those funds could be used elsewhere. Centre-back is another area where Liverpool could strengthen despite not losing any defenders yet this summer.

Liverpool are keeping tabs on several options now that they have signed their top target, Mac Allister. French duo Khepren Thuram and Manu Kone are two options being considered at Anfield, as well as Southampton star Romeo Lavia.
Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga is also firmly on the radar of the Reds after his sensational La Liga campaign, with his £34million release clause catching the eye.
Manchester City, Newcastle and other top European clubs are all said to be keeping tabs on the 21-year-old so Klopp’s side may be tempted to greenlight a move for the playmaker sooner rather than later given he is one of few players who meets their criteria while also being affordable.
