Liverpool can tap into Klopp’s agent as top target considers Anfield move
Liverpool can tap into Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke as they target Max Eberl as their new sporting director. Eberl is understood to have reached an agreement with both Liverpool and Bayern Munich over a major backroom role.
However, the Reds could steal a march on Bayern with the help of Kosicke, who represents Klopp and Eberl. According to CaughtOffside, Eberl favours staying in Germany with Bayern. But Kosicke may be able to persuade him otherwise.
Eberl came through the Bayern academy as a player before being going on to play for VfL Bochum, SpVgg Greuther Furth and Borussia Monchengladbach. After retiring at Monchengladbach in 2005 he was immediately offered a role as the academy manager for the club.
Eberl held the position for three years before being promoted to director of sport. He continued with the role until 2022 when he was given the opportunity to take up the same job at Red Bull Leipzig.
On September 29 2023, RB Leipzig announced Eberl’s immediate termination due to a perceived lack of commitment to the club. “RB Leipzig have relieved Max Eberl of his duties with immediate effect, the statment began.
“His failure to commit to the club has led to us making this decision. It has nothing to do with the squad’s rebuild or results on the pitch. Sporting director Rouven Schröder will take over. We would like to thank Max for his work and wish him all the best for the future.”

Now, Eberl is out of work and looking for a new opportunity. Although he is more interested in moving to Bayern, Eberl is understood to find the Liverpool job appealing as well.
If Liverpool can snap up Eberl then it would represent a good bit of business. The Reds are hoping they can bring stability to the position which has already changed hands twice in the last 18 months following the exit of the long-serving sporting director Michael Edwards. The position is currently held by Jorg Schmadtke, whose contract expires next summer.
The 23/24 home shirt for Liverpool pays homage to the past of the club, as well as collaborator Nike, with a strong 1970s influence. The iconic red, capped with bold white cuffs and collar really does invoke that classic Liverpool FC style while adding a cool retro touch
