Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to welcome back Naby Keita for the Premier League clash with Brighton at Anfield but fellow midfielders Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara look set to miss out once again. The high-flying Reds are looking to avoid potential banana skin against the Seagulls, who have started the season impressively themselves under Graham Potter, who Klopp has declared his admiration for ahead of the meeting.

Liverpool were down to bare bones in midfield at Old Trafford last weekend as Keita and James Milner were forced off through injury.

Milner has already been ruled out of the clash with Brighton due to a hamstring problem but there is better news when Keita is concerned.

The former RB Leipzig was forced off on a stretcher after being on the receiving end of a full-blooded two-footed lunge from Paul Pogba.

However, Klopp has revealed that Keita looks good to go after sitting out the 2-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Preston on Wednesday night.

He said: “Naby Keita looks good, we were all surprised but he was obviously lucky, so I think he will be ready.

“With Fabinho, it doesn’t look too good, it’s a bit more complicated but not too complicated but complicated enough to keep him out.

“I’ll still wait for the last news but he was not in team training yet, which is never a good sign.

“Thiago was back in team training for the first time but it doesn’t mean he’s available to play a football game, unfortunately.

“So we will see what we do with him but he’s closer than he was last week.”

Thiago has been missing since the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace when he was forced off with a calf injury.

Meanwhile, Fabinho is nursing a knock to his knee as the Brazilian was forced to stay at home for the 5-0 demolition of Manchester United.

Curtis Jones, therefore, looks set to start in midfield in place of injured veteran Milner after catching the eye in midweek at Deepdale.

The England U21 international has only recently returned to action following a niggle in his groin but now Jones is looking to replicate a strong finish to 2020 this time last year, which included his first Champions League goal against Ajax.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino will also be hoping for some more minutes given that their involvement has been limited this season.

Liverpool have no other injury concerns ahead of the visit of Brighton as they prepare to welcome former Red Adam Lallana back to Anfield, where he spent seven years as a player.
