Liverpool are growing in confidence in Jude Bellingham pursuit
Liverpool are growing in confidence in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham… but any move means the Reds MUST qualify for the Champions League, amid rival interest from Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Real Madrid
- Jude Bellingham continues to attract suitors after shining at Borussia Dortmund
- He has been linked with a move to several clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool
- Champions League football will be a key factor in Bellingham’s choice of club
Liverpool’s hopes of landing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund are expected to hinge on the success of their revived bid for Champions League football.
Bellingham is wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer and Sportsmail understands Liverpool are growing in confidence that they will win the race for the England star.
As well as the Anfield side, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are contenders for the Dortmund’s captain.
And playing in Europe’s top club competition is set to be a decisive factor in Bellingham’s next destination after doing so in each of his three seasons at Dortmund, this season’s campaign coming to an end at Chelsea on Tuesday.
Liverpool, who also want to sign Chelsea’s Mason Mount, have enjoyed a resurgence in the last month, going unbeaten in their last five league games, winning four and drawing one.

They have not conceded a goal in that mini-run and capped it with a record-breaking 7-0 win over Manchester United.
They have risen from 10th and 11 points off the top four at the start of last month to fifth and now just three points behind Tottenham, occupiers of the final Champions League position a run that has boosted their hopes of being well-placed in the battle for Bellingham.
Competition, though, remains fierce. United were pipped to Bellingham’s signature in 2020 by Dortmund but are keen again and on course to qualify for the Champions League as they sit third in the Premier League.
Spanish giants Real Madrid have earmarked both Bellingham and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as future marquee signings and are targeting the midfielder for a move to the Bernabeu first.
Even though their hopes of being in next season’s Champions League are the slimmest of his biggest suitors, Chelsea have done groundwork on a deal for Bellingham too and been buoyed by some of the transfers which before they completed them at stages looked unlikely.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are hoping to beat their Premier League rivals to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada.
Kamada, 26, will be a free agent this summer and is understood to have a verbal agreement with Dortmund.
However, a number of clubs including United and Chelsea have not given up hope of persuading him to change his mind and move to England instead.
