Liverpool and Man Utd join race for Villa wonderkid compared with Bellingham

Liverpool and Man Utd are reportedly among a host of top clubs monitoring Aston Villa wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka.

The 17-year-old is tipped as one of the brightest prospects emerging from Villa's Bodymoor Heath academy.

Sadly for Chukwuemeka he was unable to play in the FA Cup third round clash against Liverpool last month as he was forced into self-isolation following a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

But, as reports The Times , Liverpool are already well aware of the midfielder's talents, while United, Man City, Juventus and Bayern Munich are all tracking him too.

The teenager is believed to have already fielded offers from clubs in Germany but has opted to push for a senior breakthrough on home shores.

That was good news for Villa, who managed to tie Chukwuemeka down to a three-year deal on his 17th birthday when he turned professional.

It was his belief that the route to Villa's first team would be an easier path to navigate which led the youngster to reject Man City previously.

Chukwuemeka initially started out in Northampton Town's academy before Villa prised him from the League One club when he was aged 13.

Seeing the likes of Jack Grealish progress through the youth ranks to become Villa captain and an England star has given Chukwuemeka all the motivation he needs, though his style is more akin to Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham.

Chukwuemeka is, like Bellingham, considered to be more of a 'box-to-box' midfielder, despite playing in a more advanced role in Villa's academy at present.

He will no doubt be itching to get his first taste of senior action, given his older brother Caleb, 18, has recently broken into Northampton's side, and more recently has been attracting interest from Southampton and Club Brugge.

Meanwhile the race is on for Carney, though Villa remain confident they still hold all the cards to his future.
