Liverpool £25.5m Andre bid ‘rejected’ as Reds walk away from transfer for good
Luis Diaz could be Liverpool's star player this season
Liverpool’s midfield rebuild has been dealt another blow after they reportedly saw a £25.5million bid for Fluminense’s Andre rejected. Jurgen Klopp is desperate to add more quality in the department before the transfer window closes and the Reds have promptly cooled their interest as a result and moved on to alternatives.
Last season, the lack of fresh legs and quality in Liverpool’s midfield proved costly and it was highlighted as an area of the squad that needed investment. Several players were released, with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai brought in as replacements.
However, following the sales of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to the Saudi Pro League, the Reds are still looking for further reinforcements. Having missed out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, Wataru Endo was signed from Stuttgart to provide experience in midfield.
Liverpool have not concluded their spending spree though, with promising South American prospect Andre identified as a top target. According to ESPN, the Reds have seen a £25.5m bid for the Brazilian recently rejected, despite the player’s willingness to head to the Premier League.

After rejecting the bid, Fluminense also informed the higher powers at Anfield that they are not willing to entertain increased offers either as they do not want to sell the midfielder whilst their current season has not finished. Per ESPN, that has prompted Liverpool to walk away from talks for good.
The Brazil international was viewed by the Reds as a player that would have been able to improve the squad in both the short term and the long term. But they are not willing to chase a signing that does not appear plausible given that the transfer window is starting to draw to a close.
Given that the Brasileiro Serie A concludes in December, Fluminense may be more willing to entertain offers for Andre in the January transfer window as they will have the opportunity to bring in a replacement.

But Liverpool are expected to turn their attention to an alternative target imminently and therefore won’t be in the market for the 22-year-old at that stage, it appears.
It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool ultimately wait and return with a fresh bid for Andre in January. Other clubs could also look to pounce on the player.
Fulham have already seen a bid rejected for the midfielder already this summer, believed to have been in the region of £17m, and may feel that the Brazilian is the ideal player that they can work with and develop before cashing in on his services for a significant fee further down the line.
