Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami debut sees ‘cheapest’ tickets rise to over $1,000
The 'cheapest' tickets for Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami debut are selling for more than $1,000.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner recently announced he will be swapping Paris Saint-Germain for David Beckham’s franchise. Messi mania has already been building in Miami with ticket sales at the club reportedly ‘quadrupling’.
Inter supremo Jorge Mas has also whipped up even more excitement by teasing two more potential signings, rumoured to be Messi’s former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. As you would expect, tickets to see the World Cup winner are the new gold dust in the States.
So much so the prices of tickets are rising and showing very little sign of stopping.

Resale sites are charging Messi lovers through the nose for a ticket. The club recently announced he is expected to make his debut on July 21 when Inter Miami host popular Mexican side Cruz Azul.
This announcement has caused a stratospheric rise in prices with the purported cheaper tickets going for as much as $1065 on Seatgeez. Anybody with a taste for the finer things in life could be set back as much as $10,000 if they buy a premium seat at the DRV PNK Stadium.

These ticket prices are a universe away from the original prices. Before Messi’s imminent arrival, tickets were available for as little as $22 with some VIP packages selling for as little as $49.
The additional interest has also prompted some changes to the stadium. Mas recently stated the club are looking to add around 3000 additional seats to their modest home ground to drag the capacity from 18,000 to as high as 22,000.
“We have already contracted to fill in the corners of the stadium that should increase capacity by approximately 3,000 to 3,200 seats,” Mas said to reporters.
“We are gearing up to do that work in the next four weeks. Every game will be sold out. The demand for tickets has been 10 times what we can handle on a season ticket basis.”
