Lionel Messi walks round like he ‘can’t be a***d’ being at PSG vs Man City
Lionel Messi has been accused of walking around like he "can't be a***d" during the Champions League match between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentine playmaker underwhelmed fans during the first half of their group stage meeting at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
However, despite his lethargic display in the opening 45 minutes, though, Messi set up Kylian Mbappe for the opening goal as PSG took a 1-0 lead.
The hosts were able to make use of their overall dominance on the night by turning the scoreline on its head with goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.
Fans on Twitter were quick to criticise Messi during the first half as he was accused of looking uninterested and playing like he did not want to be there.
“Messi looks uninterested. Walking round, passing the ball straight back when given it. Strange.." said one onlooker.
Another fan added: “Apart from a nutmeg and walking all game, Messi has done nothing tonight. Literally playing like he doesn’t wanna be there. Dude was better off going to the MLS.”
A third fan had sympathy for PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino as they wrote: “I feel for Pochettino right now. His teams have always had energy in attack & pressed well.

“A bright start but now it’s backs against the wall stuff and Messi, Neymar & Mbappe are just walking on the pitch. Basically playing with eight players.”
Meanwhile, another simply tweeted: “Messi just walking about like he can’t be a***d.”
Despite Messi's first half performance, it was his deflected cross which picked out Mbappe at the back post to give PSG the lead just five minutes into the second half.
This proved to be in vain, though, as goals from Sterling and Jesus during the final half an hour to give City all three points and book City's place in the round of 16 as group winners.
