Sergio Ramos says he would welcome Lionel Messi at Real Madrid with open arms when his Barcelona contract expires this summer – and would even let him stay at his house if it meant he joined Los Blancos. The pair are among the last survivors from a golden era of rivalry between the two Spanish giants, with both clubs set to oversee wholesale changes at the end of the season as Atletico Madrid sit top of the pile in La Liga.
The two icons are out of contract at the end of the season, with both yet to decide whether they will extend their stays at the two rival clubs or move on.
Real Madrid are desperate to keep Ramos, who is the subject of interest from Juventus and the Premier League, but the defender is still undecided on where he will play his football next season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have an even bigger problem on their hands as Ronald Koeman faces the prospect of losing the club’s greatest ever player.
Last year, Messi sent a burofax to the Barca board requesting to leave before the Argentine reluctantly agreed to stay to avoid taking his employers to court over a break clause in his contract.

With his deal now in the final months, it’s now highly likely that Messi says his goodbyes this summer on a free transfer with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain both said to be interested.
Yet Ramos, who has spent virtually his whole career trying to nullify the Barcelona legend, claims the door is open for Messi at Real Madrid in what would be without doubt the most-controversial transfer of all-time.
“Would I accept Messi in Madrid? 100 per cent,” Ramos told YouTuber Ibai. “I would be delighted to have Messi at Madrid. I would even make room for him in my house if necessary!
“We have had to suffer against him in his best years. Not having him in front of me to deal with would be good. I would like to see him at Madrid.”

Ramos remained coy when quizzed on his own future with Florentino Perez currently working to convince him to stay put.
“At the moment I am happy that I will return to play and will be able to help my team-mates on the field,” he added.
“I am just thinking of finishing the season and winning the title with the team.”
Barcelona have been offered hope that Messi could still stay at the club with Joan Laporta set to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu as president.
Koeman is also optimistic that Messi has faith in his squad moving forward, despite their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of PSG on Wednesday night.
“Leo’s seen for a while that the team is improving with the changes we’ve made,” the Dutchman said after his side were dumped out of Europe at the Parc des Princes.
“We have youngsters with quality and big futures coming into the team, so it’s not a question of having doubts about what this team is capable of.
“But only he can decide his future. No one can help him. He can see this side has a great future, so that’s not an argument for him to [leave].”
