Lineker mocks Keane and Neville as he gets popcorn out for Man Utd analysis

Gary Lineker appeared to aim a cheeky dig at Roy Keane and Gary Neville in the aftermath of Manchester United's embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Ralf Rangnick's visitors were totally outclassed at the Etihad as a brace apiece from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez secured all three points for the hosts.

United's sorry performance prompted the usual inquest from former Old Trafford heroes after the match – something jokily predicted by Match of the Day host Lineker.

He tweeted: "There’s going to be an awful lot of "This is Manchester United…we’re talking about Manchester United” after this game."

And sure enough – he was right.

Red Devils legend Keane didn't hold back in his analysis of United's performance.

"Egos come into it, you leave egos at the front door, these guys are all about how am I looking," he began. "Are my boots nice? Is my hair looking good? Play the game!

"You’re at Man United, we’re looking at the fans behind the goal and they know, they’re not daft, this team we’re supporting have given up."

Neville was similarly scathing in his analysis from the commentary box.

He said: "The first thing to say is that Manchester City were outstanding, particularly in the second-half.

"But at the end of the game, Manchester United finished like an absolute shower. They were a disgrace in the last 25 minutes."

United are now 22 points behind City in the Premier League table, a sorry statistic that shows how far Rangnick's side still need to go to bridge the gap to their neighbours.

More pertinently for Paul Pogba and co. they are now a point behind Arsenal in the race for the top four after the Gunners squeaked past Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta's men also have three games in hand on the Red Devils, who they face at the Emirates in late April.
