Leicester vs Manchester United LIVE: Team news, line-ups and more ahead of FA Cup quarter-final today

Leicester City welcome Manchester United to the King Power Stadium this afternoon as the two Premier League clubs bid for a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The tie sees the top flight’s second-placed side – Man United – take on the division’s third-placed team in Brendan Rodger’s Foxes, who enter this fixture on the back of a 5-0 thrashing of bottom Sheffield United in the Premier League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last 14 games across all competitions.

Leicester are four-time runners-up in the FA Cup, though their last trip to the final of the competition came over 50 years ago, while United are 12-time champions of the tournament, with their last title achieved at the end of the 2015/16 season. Whoever emerges victorious from today’s quarter-final will join fellow Premier League teams Man City and Southampton in the final four after City beat Everton 2-0 yesterday and the Saints saw off Bournemouth 3-0. In fact, the semi-finals will both be all-Premier League affairs, with Chelsea having overcome Sheffield United 2-0 earlier this afternoon to book their spot in the penultimate round of the competition.

Chelsea 2-0 Sheffield United: An Oliver Norwood own-goal put the Blues on their way before the Moroccan’s late second

More from Tuchel

We let them come back because we had full control in first half and second half a big chance with Christian Pulisic to finish the game early. We made too many easy mistakes and lost duels and lost some momentum.

“I could tell in training we were tired and there was a lack of concentration. That can happen sometimes it gets harder to keep the level up – I’m happy we could help from the bench and in the end we have the win so we take that.”

Resurgence

Chelsea have now won 10 of their 14 games under Thomas Tuchel with four draws. Only Manchester City (14) have won more matches across all competitions amongst all sides in the top five European leagues since the German’s first game in charge.

Thomas Tuchel speaks to BBC Sport

Sounds excellent to say we’re through to the semi-finals – it was a tough match. We had a good first half where we controlled everything. We lost control in the second half, we were clearly tired. After 14 consecutive matches I could feel we were tired and we made many little faults. We were lucky to keep the clean sheet in the second half but I think it’s the first time in the 14 games we have looked tired. It’s important to go through in the cup and that was the target and we reached it.”

Reaction from Christian Pulisic

Sheffield United didn’t make it easy on us – they have quality and we had to suffer a bit in the second half. But it’s another clean sheet, a good performance.

“We knew it would be a bit uncomfortable, there would always be a bit of pressure but we had to just work as a team which we did eventually.

“They’re a good defensive side, there were a couple of chances where myself and others could’ve done better but it’s a good result.

“We have a confident bunch of guys here and when you go on a streak like this we’re feeling really good and we’re feeling like we can beat anyone.”

Chelsea 2 – 0 Sheffield Utd

90+3 mins: Full time. Chelsea are through to the semi-finals! A resurgence from the Blades over the last 15 minutes of the game almost saw the visitors get back into the match but Chelsea had enough quality to see the game through. They join Southampton and Manchester City in the next round and Thomas Tuchel remains unbeaten as the Chelsea boss.

Chelsea 2 – 0 Sheffield Utd – Ziyech

90+2 mins: GOAL! It’s all over now! A long ball forward and a quick counter does for Sheffield United. Hakim Ziyech starts the move with a simple pass to Mateo Kovacic who brings the ball through the midfield. He sends it up to Ben Chilwell as Ziyech sprints into the box. Chilwell chips the ball into him and he brings it under control with his first touch before rattling it home with his second. Beautiful finish.
