Leicester have played down the prospect of signing Marcelo after rumours they were interested in the former Real Madrid defender, according to reports.
There had been claims the Brazilian, a free agent after leaving Real Madrid this summer when his contract ran out at the Bernabeu, was close to signing a one-year deal with the Foxes.
But the BBC report that the Premier League side have distanced themselves from a move for the 34-year-old left-back.

Marcelo spent 16 seasons at Real, making 546 appearances in all competitions and scoring 38 goals.
In that time he won six LaLiga titles, five Champions League crowns, five Spanish Super Cups, two Copa del Reys, four Club World Cups and three UEFA Super Cups.
The 58-cap international announced he was finally leaving in May, after his side beat Liverpool 1-0 to take the Champions League trophy.
He was an unused substitute in that match, after being forced out of the side by Frenchman Ferland Mendy.
Defender Wout Faes is the only player the Foxes have signed for a fee in the summer window
Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester, who have made a poor start to the season and lie bottom of the Premier League table – although they play Manchester United tonight in their game in hand – have only signed Wout Faes and Alex Smithies this summer.
Ryan Bertrand, 33, has a knee injury and youngster Luke Thomas has not played a single minute in the league this season, with right-sided defenders James Justin or Timothy Castagne preferred at left-back.
Spanish journalist Marti Miras had tweeted: ‘The former Real Madrid player (Marcelo) is VERY CLOSE to signing for Leicester City.
‘(Once he passes) a medical examination… (he will) sign until June 2023. More information in the next few hours.’
