Leicester and Everton 'considering move for Matheus Pereira'

Leicester and Everton ‘considering move for former West Brom star Matheus Pereira’ as Brendan Rodgers and Frank Lampard look to improve their squads with the midfielder ‘eager to return to top-flight football’

  • Leicester and Everton are both interested in signing midfielder Matheus Pereira
  • The 26-year-old left West Brom for Al Hilal after the club’ relegation in 2021
  • He’s now keen to return to top-flight football with the Premier League an option

Leicester and Everton are reportedly interested in signing former West Brom midfielder Matheus Pereira.

The 26-year-old is keen to return to top-flight football after leaving the Baggies for Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal after the club were relegated to the Championship just over a year ago, and he’s unlikely to be short of offers.

According to The Sun, both Brendan Rodgers and Frank Lampard are weighing up a move for Pereira with less than a week remaining until the transfer window closes.

The 26-year-old scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for the Baggies in the Premier League

Pereira scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for West Brom in the Premier League, shining in the 2020-21 season despite the club’s relegation.

He moved to Al Hilal for £16million that summer, but wants to return to the top level as he approaches his prime years.

Leicester are set to finally get the ball rolling in the transfer marking this window, with the club yet to sign a first team player despite the departure of several key men.

Club captain Kasper Schmeichel left for Nice earlier in the summer, and defender Wesley Fofana is set to sign for Chelsea for £75million.

The Foxes will have the green light to invest that money back in the squad as they aim to bounce back from what has been a poor start to the Premier League season, which sees them 19th in the table without a win.

Everton, meanwhile, sit just above the relegation zone in 17th and are also yet to win.

Lampard is keen to keep improving his squad as the Toffees aim to avoid another relegation battle, and Pereira could be a positive addition after the arrival of Neal Maupay from Brighton.
