Leeds transfer target Perraud admits he supports one of the Whites’ big rivals
Leeds target Roman Perraud has admitted he is a fan of their big rivals Chelsea.
Leeds want to sign a natural left-back and are tracking Perraud because of his impressive performances for Stade Brest in Ligue 1.
Perraud, 23, is a fan of the Premier League and says he has supported Chelsea since seeing them at Stamford Bridge as a kid.
“It’s true,” he said. “I became a big fan of Chelsea when I was travelling to London with my father and my grandmother.
“The stadium was full and my father managed to buy tickets to Stamford Bridge on the black market.
"I must have been between 9 and 11 years old, the game was Chelsea v Sunderland, a 5-0 victory.
“I said to myself then that I was going to follow this team and I still follow them today. They are my favourite team.”
Perraud, who signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Brest in January, has the attacking ability Marcelo Bielsa likes and has three goals and five assists in Ligue 1 this season.
Celtic are also keen on him and says his focus is on playing well for Brest.
“I don’t dwell on that too much, I have a contract with Brest,” he said. “I’m fine here and then we’ll see what happens next.”
Perraud is one name on director of football Victor Orta’s list of summer targets and Leeds want to sign a natural left-back to free up Stuart Dallas, who has played there this season.
They feel Perraud would complement their squad and do not see him as a replacement for Ezgjan Alioski, who is out of contract in the summer, and who has also filled in at left-back.
Leeds expect Alioski to sign a new deal and Bielsa feels the North Macedonia’s best position is on the left side of midfield.
