Ledley King says Tottenham have unsung hero in "top, top player" Cristian Romero
Ledley King has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have one unsung hero who is going to become a "top, top player" for Antonio Conte's side.
The Spurs hero, 41, has heaped praise on Cristian Romero who has fitted Conte's system like a glove since fighting back from a hamstring injury. The Argentine was a cool £42m signing from Atalanta in the summer but King believes that is money well spent.
King, speaking to Reece Mennie on his podcast, said: "I've been very impressed with Romero. I think he's going to be a top, top player. In his first season, he's been excellent. But Virgil van Dijk is probably the standout centre back in the in the league.
"What I love about him is that he makes the game look easy, and I love players like that. You don't see him sliding around or getting ruffled, he just plays at his own pace.
"It helps everyone around him, and pulls players around him to they need to be. For me, he's probably the best in the world at the moment. He's the top, top guy."
Romero has found form at a pivotal time in Spurs' season. With the Argentine marshalling the defence, Tottenham have kept three clean sheets in their last six matches and have shipped just four goals in the same period.
