Le Tissier attacks Lineker who has ‘never done anything wrong in his life’

Matt Le Tissier has lashed out at "special" Gary Lineker who he claims has "never done anything wrong in his life".

Le Tissier and Lineker clashed when the TV pundit slammed the Southampton legend for his contentious views on the Covid pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Along with many others, Lineker was unimpressed with Le Tissier's controversial opinions which resulted in him being sacked by Sky Sports, and ousted from his role as Southampton's ambassador.

After their Twitter spat where Match of the Day presenter Lineker mocked him for his comments on the Covid pandemic, Le Tissier claimed the Tottenham icon "goes out of his way to dig him out".

And now Le Tissier has reignited their row by sarcastically claiming Lineker is "special" because he never does anything wrong. In an interview on Pub Talk, he said when asked Lineker: "Yeah, Gary was one of those blue ticks that I was talking about earlier that like to jump on anything I say.

"But you know, Gary's a very special human being, he's never done any wrong in his life." And Le Tissier reckons his differences with Lineker stem from their opposing political ideologies.

He reckons Lineker's a leftist, whereas he leans more towards the right. While detailing the origins of their row, Le Tissier explained: "(It was over) opinions, he's on the leftist side of left on the political spectrum, and I'm more in the middle, and maybe veer slightly towards the right, although there's some things on the left that I'd agree with," before delving deeper into his political views.

Lineker's criticism isn't reserved for Le Tissier and he's been vocal about a number of social misgivings. Most recently, the England legend slammed FIFA for telling teams to focus on football instead of human rights issues at the World Cup.

He also rejected the chance to conduct the Qatar World Cup draw as it was "obviously wrong". And after Argentina won the tournament, he criticised the host nation's hierarchy for draping Lionel Messi in an Arabic robe called a 'bisht'.
