Hernandez re-emerged after the incident and the pair had to be separated by players and staff
As the French international made his way down the pitchside stairs after his red card, video footage appears to show Inter striker Martinez – who had been substituted earlier in the game – leaning over and spitting on his opponent.
Hernandez then re-emerged and approached Martinez, with the pair having to be separated by teammates and staff.
Reacting to the incident, TheMilanGuys Twitter account said: ‘Apparently Lautaro Martinez spit on Theo after his red card…the video looks pretty clear that he did as well.
‘Especially in COVID times, that’s worthy of at least a 3-5 match suspension. Let’s see if @SerieA does the right thing.’
Another Milan supporter added: ‘Lautaro did spit. Look at the video closely. Disgusting.’
It will be announced whether the referee reported the incident when the Serie A sporting judge’s decisions are published on Tuesday.

Martinez was unsurprisingly frustrated as reigning Serie A champions Inter lost for only the second time in the league this season.
It was also only the second time in the last 10 derbies that Milan had come out on top.
Inter remain top of the table on 53 points but Milan are now on 52 along with Napoli, having played one game more.
