Television and sports radio host Laura Woods refused to let a social media troll have the last laugh after ridiculing the anonymous commenter’s disgraceful insult.
Woods posted a simple tweet following Sheffield Wednesday’s League One play-off victory over Peterborough United on Thursday evening.
Wednesday progressed to the final after battling back in an enthralling 5-1 victory over Peterborough before winning the knockout tie on penalties.
Woods labelled the comeback by Darren Moore’s side following a first-leg defeat as ‘outstanding’ and was quickly targeted by vile sexist abuse.
The public account doesn’t reveal the identity of the abuser who replied to Woods’ initial tweet by calling her a ‘slut’.

However, if the presumed Peterborough supporter thought they would silence the 35-year-old then they were seriously wrong.
A quick-witted Woods played on the insult and responded by poking fun at Peterborough’s play-off defeat, posting a short reply that had her followers in stitches.
Woods retorted: ‘Except it’s you that’s been bent over tonight eh.’
Her response has since had 128,000 views, with many reactions laughing at the genius reply that silenced the agitator.
One delighted Woods fan added: ‘The second best come back from last night. Absolutely brilliant.’
Another replied: ‘That’s a better comeback then Sheffield Wednesday’s.’

While one supportive tweet added: ‘That’s a spectacular response,’ alongside a laughing emoji.
Woods is no stranger to social media abuse and as recently as December was told to ‘get back in the kitchen’ by another sexist commenter.
However, Woods has thrived in the sport broadcasting industry and won back-to-back presenter of the year titles at the Sports Journalism Awards between 2020 and 2021.
Meanwhile, she has also been touted as the new lead host for BT Sport’s Premier League coverage next season.
