Laura Woods was subjected to some cheeky ribbing from Rio Ferdinand as she made her on-air debut for TNT Sports on Tuesday.
After joining the broadcaster formerly known as BT Sport earlier this year to front its Champions League coverage, Woods made her maiden appearance alongside Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott for Manchester City’s win against Crvena Zvezda.
With the trio speaking to the camera before the game Woods prepared to move on to another segment when the former Manchester United defender interrupted her to point out his nutmeg had been caught on camera.
‘How dare you try and get away with it. Don’t even try to go to any link.’ Ferdinand joked on camera.
‘There’s been a nutmeg live on air on her debut. Laura Woods has been megged.’

The footage then showed Rio sneakily sliding the ball between Woods’ legs with a perfectly timed ball, with the broadcaster adding insult to injury on the debuting host by displaying multiple angles of the incident.
Admiring his work on the replay, Ferdinand added: ‘Just popped it through quickly, beautiful.’
The former talkSPORT star soldiered on however, joking: ‘Pep Guardiola will be hoping for a bit of skill like that hopefully today. Very embarrassed, thanks very much for that.’
With Woods abashed pre-game, Guardiola’s side looked set to suffer a humilation of their own at the Etihad after Osman Bukari gave the Serbian side an unlikely lead on the brink of half time after a VAR check.
City improved in the second half however, and managed to translate their dominance on the ball into chances, with Julian Alvarez netting twice within 15 minutes of the restart to hand his side the lead.
Rodri added a third for the Citizens on 73 minutes to ensure the defending champions secured a winning start to their Champions League campaign.
