Frank Lampard insists he has no problem with facing the sack at Everton amid the club’s continued poor form which has made relegation a very real threat.

Things do not get any easier for the relegation-threatened side, with Manchester United up next in the early Saturday kick-off at Goodison Park.

But speaking ahead of the game against the Red Devils, Lampard insisted he accepts the threat of being sacked immediately exists, just as it did at his former employers.

‘I spent 18 months at Chelsea where you are always two games from the sack,’ Lampard said.

‘In the Premier League you sign up for that, I’ve got no problem with that. We’re a huge club, people want to talk about it.

‘We’ve got no right to not be fighting a battle with relegation. But what I am is proud to manage here.’

Lampard also called on his side to be more ‘nasty’ after club legend Neville Southall’s comment that ‘at the moment we are a very nice bunch of players who are too easy to get beat’.

‘We certainly do need that,’ Lampard added. ‘All teams need that. Neville is an absolute legend who played in an incredible team.

‘We’re working towards becoming a better team, with better results, performance, mentality. When great players say things like that – that’s a good challenge. We have to be controlled and ‘nasty’ if that’s the right word.’

Lampard also hinted that he believes the struggles their opponents are enduring – albeit at the other end of the table – demonstrated difficult situations are not always easy to rectify.

Asked if the Toffees can get at United, he replied: ‘I don’t know about ”get at”. They’ve got fantastic individuals throughout their team. But maybe they are having difficult times for Manchester United.

‘It shows that sometimes those situations are not easy to turn straight away. I’m sure they are doing that just as we are doing it at our end.’
