Midfielder Adam Lallana has insisted the Seagulls will be fine in the striker’s absence
Lallana felt Trossard’s absence would not be felt at the South Coast side amid their stellar recent form, as he told Sky Sports: ‘You only need to look at the last three results without him, 5-1, 4-1 and 3-0.’
The striker was first omitted from the Brighton squad ahead of their 3-0 win over Liverpool due to concerns over his attitude after he reportedly boarded a Eurostar train back to Belgium.
The 34-year-old continued: ‘Players can leave Brighton, but we’ve got enough without them.
He pointed to the club’s impressive wins in each of their last three games without Trossard
‘We had enough without [Yves] Bissouma, [Marc] Cucurella, Ben White, Dan Burn, when Neal [Maupay] moved on, so if Leo moves on, we’ll cope. We’re coping already.’
Despite the departures listed by Lallana, which Moises Caicedo could soon join following a £55 million bid from Chelsea, De Zerbi’s side have been flying this season and currently sit seventh in the Premier League, above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea and just three points off fifth-place Tottenham.
As far as Arsenal are concerned, Trossard could be a key part of their squad as they target a first league title since 2004.
Trossard will be a useful signing for the Gunners after missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk
They currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League, and will face a vital test on Saturday against third-place Manchester United, the only side to beat them so far this season.
Mikel Arteta has revealed that his new signing will be available for the game, but Trossard’s true value will likely come later in the season when he can provide relief for the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.
The Gunners had previously been keen on bringing in Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk to fufill a similar role, but were beaten to his signature by Chelsea.
