Kylian Mbappe showed who was boss against Kyle Walker during France’s win over England by beating the defender in a foot race while having the ball at his feet.

Much was made of the heavily-anticipated battle between the two players, both known for being particularly quick across the pitch, before the World Cup quarterfinal match on Saturday.

The Frenchman, who is the top scorer at the tournament, didn’t find the net in the game, but gave Walker a hard time throughout and managed to slip past the 32-year-old on a couple of occasions.

One particular clip shows Mbappe sprinting past his opponent with ease while dribbling with the ball, before getting a cross into the box which was missed by Olivier Giroud and then Ousmane Dembele.

Mbappe picked the ball up in his own half in the 56th minutes and took on Walker, as he did throughout the night.

He first stood his man up, before showing a strong burst of acceleration to break away.

Walker didn’t give up and got physical, even tugging at the forward’s shirt at one point, but the 23-year-old was too strong and managed to eventually reach the by-line.

Mbappe didn’t score, but generally got the better of the England full-back, which showed on one particular occasion

The 23-year-old then showed an incredible burst of acceleration to get round Walker and deliver a cross

Mbappe and France will fancy their chances of lifting a second successive World Cup trophy after seeing off England.

They will take on Morocco on Wednesday evening and will go into the tie as heavy favourites despite the African side’s remarkable run so far.

The final, to be played next Sunday, would then be against either Argentina or Croatia, who they beat in the 2018 final.
