There seems to be a brewing feud between Frances strikers Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud with the Paris Saint-Germain striker saying in his press conference on Sunday that he was “affected” by comments from his compatriot. France get their Euro 2020 campaign underway on Tuesday when they face off against Germany.
But manager Didier Deschamps may well have to try and simmer things down in the dressing room in the striking department.
After France’s 3-0 win over Bulgaria in their final friendly before the European Championships, Giroud hit the headlines for comments after the match.
The Chelsea forward suggested he wasn’t getting the service from his team-mates, despite scoring twice after coming on as a substitute.
Giroud didn’t name anyone in particular but many took his comments as a shot at Mbappe.

“I was quiet because sometimes you make a run and the balls just don’t arrive,” Giroud said on L’Equipe TV.
“I don’t always pretend to make the right calls, but I have tried hard to give solutions in the area.”
Paul Pogba dismissed any issue between Mbappe and Giroud in the week, stating there is “no tension”.

However, Mbappe appeared to suggest otherwise as he directly responded to Giroud’s remarks.
The PSG striker noted that Giroud hadn’t spoke with him about any issue and admitted to being “affected” by it.
“I spoke with Olivier Giroud,” Mbappe said. “Everyone knows what happened.
“It is true that I was a little affected by it. But we are not going to make a big deal about it because we are here to represent France, that is the most important thing.
“It is more that he said it publicly than the fact that he said it. I saw him in the dressing room and he didn’t say anything to me.
“He (Giroud) expressed a feeling that I have had 365 times during a match.”
Deschamps will be hoping the brewing feud doesn’t disrupt the camp as France look to win the Euros for the first time since 2000.
Mbappe and Giroud established a formidable partnership at the 2018 World Cup as France won the illustrious Jules Rimet trophy.
