Kylian Mbappe blocks Lionel Messi’s shot during PSG game to leave fans furious

Kylian Mbappe has been scathed for blocking Lionel Messi’s goal-bound shot 'on purpose'.

PSG faced off against Brest on Saturday at the Parc des Princes. Christophe Galtier’s side took the lead on 30 minutes – Messi picked the ball up, before pulling off a brilliant pass over the visitors’ defence to Neymar, who finished off with a fine volley.

But before the game-winning goal, in the 19th minute, Messi could have netted one himself.

The ball bobbled inside the box, and the superstar was able to land a swift shot towards goal. Only Mbappe was in the way of the goal-bound strike – jumping up, with the ball flicking off the side of his heel and past the post and out for a goal-kick.

And some online felt that Mbappe had deliberately obstructed Messi from scoring. One fan said: “Nice block by Kylian Mbappe on the Lionel Messi shot for PSG.”

Another assessed: “Mbappe blocked Messi’s volley from going in. Neymar ignored a simple pass to unmarked Messi. Messi provided brilliant assist to Neymar. That sums up Messi's journey at PSG.”

A third said: “Tbf, that was a nice block from mbappe. but bro learn that u have to block shots of your opponents, not teammates. 1)he won't pass to messi 2)he don't create chance for messi 3)Shows his ego at messi 4)what now? blocking messi's shots! HE CLEARLY DON'T DESERVE MESSI.”

Another tweeted: “He never passes or assist Messi and now blocking, Mbappe is doing everything.”

A fourth theorised: “Naa I’m convinced Mbappe’s doing this for Ronaldo! Messi’s shot is literally heading to the net only for Mbappe’s leg to block it away! This boy could’ve just jumped and it would’ve been a Messi goal.”

A last one added: “He is determined to not get messi on the score sheet lmao.”

PSG went on to win the game 1-0 but there has been mounting speculation that tensions are rising between Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar, with reports saying that the trio are not getting along.

But boss Galtier has shot such stories down: “The relationship between Ney and Kylian is very good, and I'm not giving you the runaround.

“They are together in the training exercises, they are often together in the warm-ups. Yes, there was that match situation. And I discussed it yesterday with Kylian, who I think, I think, has discussed it with Ney.”
