Kyle Bartley left dripping blood with nasty cut to his face in Liverpool clash
Kyle Bartley needed urgent medical attention from West Brom staff following a head clash with Nat Phillips that left him with blood running down his face during Sunday's fixture.
West Brom took on Liverpool at the Hawthorns and almost left their chances of qualifying for the Champions League with a top-four finish in tatters following an early opener from Hal Robson-Kanu.
With Mohamed Salah levelling the match with a fine finish before the break, Alisson would be the unlikely hero in heading home from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner in the final seconds.
While Bartley would've been left disappointed following the last-gasp winner, he could be proud of his overall performance with West Brom battling well against last season's champions.
The 29-year-old epitomised the Baggies’ faultless endeavour, carrying on with a bandaged head after catching an elbow from Reds defender Phillips.
One Twitter user said: "Bartley out there looking like a Spartacus warrior with the blood all over his face."
With a second adding: "Bro Bartley is dripping with blood."
The thoughts of Bartley turned to the result after the game, and he was left disappointed but impressed following the late header from Alisson.
He told Sky Sports: "It’s not really sunk in. A huge disappointment but I’m really proud of the desire shown just a few days after being relegated. We could have folded but we stayed strong and it’s a real tough one to take.
"The manager has just told us how proud he was of every one of us. We could have Liverpool walk all over us but we didn’t and will keep giving 100% until end of season."
Turning his attention to Alisson’s goal, he said: “It’s an unbelievable header, It’s tough to take but sometimes it happens in football and it’s cruel.”
