Kurt Zouma’s cats taken into care by RSCPA while investigation into West Ham player continues

Kurt Zouma’s cats have been taken into care by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSCPA), who have confirmed the West Ham footballer remains under investigation for abusing the animals.

The defender apologised after a disturbing video emerged of the 27-year-old dropping, kicking and slapping the cats but the RSCPA have confirmed the pets are “safe and in our care”.

Zouma was named in West Ham’s starting team for the Premier League fixture against Watford on Tuesday night, which sparked further outrage.

A statement from the RSPCA confirmed: “We’d like to reassure people that we’re investigating and the cats are safe and in our care. We have been dealing with this since before the clip went viral online and we need to follow the proper legal process and not discuss due to UK GDPR laws.”
